Real Madrid Wins Spanish Super Cup


Real Madrid shows their winning spirit, the Whites won The Spanish Super Cup with only nine Players. A red card for new Real signing Rafael van der Vaart just before the break and a second yellow for Dutch compatriot Ruud van Nistelrooy after he had in the levelled from the penalty spot in the 50th minute

Valencia scored first in this match when David Silva scored from a low shot from outside the box that grazed past the left post in 33th minute, and it even become worse for the White after referee Iturralde González sent off Rafael van der Vaart for tackling Mata late on the 4oth minute. First Half ended with 1-0 score for Valencia.

Three minutes into the second half, Guti served a free kick and Ramos headed it towards the far post, where Van Nistelrooy was ready to finish it off. The ball was sent out by Raúl Albiol with his arm and the referee awarded Real Madrid a penalty. Ruud took the penalty kick and scored his team's first goal of the evening in 50th minute. The Whites kept trying but failed to score, and Then disaster hit the team again when Ruud van Nistelrooy was sent off with a second booking 73th minute.

Despite having only nine men on the pitch, Real Madrid kept trying and soon were rewarded with another strike. Guti crossed the ball into the box and Diarra headed it to the crossbar. The ball then reached Sergio Ramos practically on the goal-line and the defender scored in 75th minute..

The Whites continued to try to net more strikes. Soon after taking the pitch, Rubén de la Red scores with spectacular shot close to 30 meters away from goal in 87th minute, Two minutes later, Higuaín took advantage of a mistake made by Valencia's defenders and scored his team's fourth and final goal in 89th minute. Valencia, managed to save face with a strike by Morientes close to the final whistle in 90th minute.

When Referee Iturralde González decided the match is over, all of Real Madrid players fell on the pitch as the Club's anthem thundered through the speakers. They won the Spanish Super Cup by aggregate 6-5. The circle the 25 players formed on the pitch symbolised the excitement they lived throughout the encounter. Raúl was the first to reach the Presidential Balcony to receive the first title of the season, the Spanish Super Cup, from the President of the Spanish FA. Deeply moved, Ramón Calderón hugged all of his children as they reached the balcony.
From the balcony the players proceeded to run a victory lap. The fans joined in, but no one's feet left the ground; the season has just begun and many months of hard work lie ahead.
